You’re not unspiritual. You’re not dramatic. You just were never taught what your emotions are for.
A guided digital journal that walks you through your own emotions from a biblical lens — naming them, tracing them back to their source, and learning what to do with them instead of burying them.
Not a devotional you read and forget. You’ll be writing, reflecting, praying, and sitting with things you’ve been avoiding, with me talking you through each part.
Download it once and it’s yours for good — on your phone in bed, on your laptop at the desk, printed if you’d rather write by hand.
Ten short, private-style videos where I talk straight to you. Not a lecture. More like a FaceTime from your fellow sister in Christ, who happens to be a mental health nurse and loves Jesus.
Seven guided sections, in the order your heart actually needs them.
How are you feeling — really? We start honest, before anything else. Plus what you want to walk away with.
The soul, and the difference between a feeling and an emotion. You can’t manage what you can’t name.
Scripture for heartbreak, grief, loneliness, anger and anxiety — and ten Christian stereotypes about emotions we’re pulling down first.
Meditation as the Bible means it. Four reflection questions that surface your negative thoughts, triggers, wounds and patterns.
The prayer of inquiry. Because how you think you feel and what’s actually going on are often two different things.
Tools for building emotional awareness — questioning your own soul the way David did, and learning to hear the answer.
What to do when the emotion is bigger than you. Processing instead of suppressing. Guiding instead of controlling.
We close the way we opened. Together, out loud, with the Holy Spirit leading.
We debunk ten of these inside. Here are four, so you know what kind of journal this is.
“If your faith was stronger, you wouldn’t be depressed.”
Expressing emotion doesn’t mean you lack faith. It means you’re human.
“Just pray about it.”
Prayer brings results. But sometimes you don’t need to hear that — sometimes you need a listening ear.
“You’re a strong Black woman, you’ll get through it.”
Yes, I’m strong. I also have weak moments and tough days, and both can be true.
“What happens in this house stays in this house.”
If I hold it in any longer without ever speaking it, I might just explode.
Your emotions are a gift, not a punishment. But a mind has to be renewed to see that — and renewing takes more than a quote.
I'm Dorothy — a child of God, a daughter of the Most High, and a mental health nurse. I love Jesus, femininity and all things wellness. But this is where I actually started.
November 2021. We were in Covid, and my life before I said yes to Christ was a mess.
I struggled with depression. With shutting myself away. With my self-esteem, my mental health, my sense of who I even was. I never fitted in at school, so in friendships I'd say things, do things, be whoever I needed to be — just to be seen. Just to belong somewhere.
Then one night at the end of that November I was in my room, and I received a prophetic word. About my own life. About the heartbreak and the confusion I was sitting in right that moment. I had always known God was real, but I'd told Him I needed a sign — I needed Him to reveal Himself to me, personally. That was my sign. In that moment I saw Him as El Roi, the God who sees me.
I said yes to Jesus that day, and my life has not been the same since.
He set me free from depression. From isolating myself. He restored my soul and renewed my mind — those negative thoughts I used to have about myself simply aren't there anymore. My friendships changed. My whole perspective changed.
I won't pretend it was gentle. There was a season where God had to strip things off me — old weights, old thinking, old attachments — and having things stripped off you is painful. It's supposed to be. I was walking through heartbreak in the middle of it, asking Him why this was happening and what it meant. He was doing a new work. He just hadn't finished yet.
The woman I am in September 2026 and the woman I was in September 2021 are two different people. A new creation — and all the glory goes to God, not to me.
So if you're reading this and you feel broken, or heartbroken, or you don't know who you are anymore: He is in the business of healing. He is in the business of restoring your soul. It may feel hard to bring your emotions to Him right now. Bring them anyway.
